A Summer Spent at Sanky!

I am absolutely thrilled and filled with gratitude for the incredible opportunity I had to serve as a Paid Media Intern at Sanky this past summer. Allow me to introduce myself formally and share a bit about my journey that led me to this experience. Currently embarking on my senior year at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, I am pursuing a double major in Economics and Political Science. My passion for non-profit and humanitarian work has been an integral part of my life since as far back as I can remember. Having spent nine formative years in Hyderabad, India, before moving to Texas, I witnessed firsthand the disparities faced by women and young children, who were deprived of the wealth of opportunities that I've been fortunate to receive. Thus, it has been my unwavering commitment to utilize my privilege and experiences to contribute positively to the world and help those in need to the best of my abilities. My upbringing instilled in me the core values of kindness, empathy, and being a beacon of light, principles that guide me in all my endeavors. Additionally, I find an immense amount of joy in creativity and actively seeking diverse perspectives. I work as a columnist and photographer for The Michigan Daily (shameless self-plug), where I speak about mental health and other topics I hold close to my heart.

As a person with varied interests and passions, I have often been characterized as being a little perplexed (though I prefer to think of myself as multi-talented). My career aspirations lie in International Human Rights Law, yet I am equally drawn to the world of entrepreneurship. To explore both worlds, I decided to spend this summer honing my business skills. I worked as an operations intern at Toyota while simultaneously taking on the role of a media intern here at Sanky. My ambition was to understand the inner workings of running a successful business, all while collaborating with non-profit organizations to help them achieve their objectives.

During my time at Sanky, the learning experience was nothing short of phenomenal. I engaged in helping prepare media strategies for our clients, delved deep into budgeting, and adeptly utilized various tools like Supermetrics, Looker Studio, and spreadsheets to automate data, streamlining processes that had been manual for years. The exposure I gained in strategic campaign development, advertising, and leveraging media platforms — enhancing client donor retention and social media impact — was truly invaluable. I built so many fundamental skills here that I am excited to take forward with me in my future endeavors for when I start my own business one day!

I am genuinely grateful for the mentorship and knowledge that Sanky provided me with. This enriching experience has further fueled my passion for making a positive impact in the world and reaffirmed my commitment to merging my interests in law, business, and non-profit work. I am excited about the future, and I look forward to leveraging the skills I've cultivated here to foster positive change and contribute meaningfully to the world around me! Special shout-out to the wonderful Paid Media team for being so kind throughout my time here and always being willing to answer my (sometimes very silly) questions and teaching me so much. So happy to have met all of you!
